Auntie Velv

Oliver, I was wondering if you were going this year, so I'm really glad to hear that you are. I have great memories of being at Uncle Merlin's house with you guys -- the downstairs light that lets you know if someone is in the bathroom upstairs!, walking up the street for ice cream, you small fry going down to the pond pier with nets, walking to the beach at night (with you in a stroller!), etc etc.

There is a blog that I don't think is being updated anymore that was totally devoted to the best ice cream on the Cape.

Maybe you can fill in some gaps with your blog while you're there ;-)

We're going to be staying in a friend's cottage in Old Saybrook (CT) for the second year, and it would be great if it becomes a yearly tradition. We have the opposite situation as Unlce Merlin's house -- the beach is right down the street instead of the paper and the ice cream. Why am I so focused on ice cream?!

Anyway, have I great time, as I'm sure you will be! Royal and her not-yet-nicknamed Mannion brother wish you guys a safe journey and a wonderful vacation...can't wait to read about it!

Oliver

Dear Auntie Velv, I can't stop thinking about ice cream either. I hope you have a safe and wonderful vacation too. P.S here are some nicknames for Royal's little brother Jon, Harold, Zack, Ted, Tod, George, Nick, Fred, and Sam or Blue, Green, Red, Yellow, and Lime or Lucky, SuperStar, and AllStar.

Auntie Velv

He wonders if he can be Shermie Mannion instead? You know how independent these Mannion-types are.

Funnily enough, Royal and (pending your approval) Shermie reminded me after I wrote to you that they've always referred to Uncle Merlin's house as "the Ice Cream House," so I guess that was a key part of their vacation too! The scoop doesn't fall far from the cone, apparently.

We're not leaving for our vacation for a few weeks, so we'll check in on your Cape adventures as you update. Have big fun!

Oliver

Dear Auntie Velv, I like Shermie. It's a good name (plus he can choose any name he wants) I will look foreword to hearing from you, Royal and Shermie.
