Detail from “Winter Brilliance” by Guy Carlton Wiggins, 1927, courtesy of the Catalouge Raissone.
Sunday. 7:00 a.m. 35 degrees. Wind 8 mph out of the NW with gusts up to 17 mph. One of those gusts just startled me awake. Nature didn’t want me to miss the brilliant morning we’re having before the clouds blow in. I wouldn’t have to walk far to see a brilliant winter scene like the one in Wiggins’ painting up top, just down the hill at the end of the street and into the woods, if I could walk that far. Ah, well. My camera’s not as good as Wiggins’ brush.
