Gosh. This was a fun read. I remember enjoying this movie, especially the Sofia Boutelle character, same as you (and hating the Khan movie, which felt zero percent Star Trek). So maybe it's time for a rewatch.

(I've never seen Undiscovered Country, nor have I watched S2 of the new TV series... shocking disclosures, given my enthusiasm for the franchise; currently I'm making my way through DS9 for the first time, and enjoying Sisko as much as Kirk -- that pirate streak, man, Sisko's got it, and it's important.)

I've avoided the JJ Abrams re-boots because the little I read about the first one and its rejiggering of Trek history put me off. Your review of this movie, however, makes me want to see it. I think I might then want to read Shatner's novel, as well. Thanks for giving me a way in.
