I loved THE BONFIRE OF THE VANITIES when I read it as a teen in the early 90s, but that was only one of two of Wolfe's books that I had read.

The other was THE RIGHT STUFF, which I read a third of as a pre-teen and finally read the whole thing a year ago. Loved it (and by the way, there is going to be a new film adaptation of the book by Disney+, but whether it tops Phil Kaufman's classic 1983 film...we'll see).

Wolfe did some fantastic writing in those two books and many lines from them are still seared into my memory.

I haven't read "The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test" in roughly 50 years, but I remember being quite entertained by it. A friend was convinced that Wolfe was gay because of the way he described Kesey's forearms. I'm not sure that I would want to re-read "Acid Test" or either of Kesey's novels at this stage of my life. I would either be disappointed in my earlier self or wondering what I had done with the last 50 years.

I reread "Radical Chic" a couple of years ago in connection with a discussion of Leonard Bernstein in blog comments, and followed up a bit, reading around and was really shocked, I mean seriously shocked, by Wolfe's dishonesty in that piece. Not to pimp myself, but Yeah, he's a real stylist, but I found myself kind of personally cancelling him.
