The Comfort is designed for trauma and surgery cases from combat.
It is not designed for isolation of infectious disease.

If COVID-19 is on the ship, and it will be, the shipboard environment will make the vessel an infection petri dish, not just for the patients, but most especially for the healthcare workers aboard. Ventilation, companionways and corridors, elevators, quarters, mess -- nothing aboard allows the crew or the medical staff to protect themselves from contagion.

And if they accept _any_ patients, eventually they'll get one in the virus's latency period, and a couple days later, it's on board and spreading.

Sending the ship was always an empty PR gesture.

Cuomo said he was going to ask if the Comfort could be designated for COVID patients, because those are virtually the only patients now in the NY hospitals. But I didn't hear yesterday what had happened with that request.
And given the comment above, I think its doubtful that it's designation would be changed.
That said, maybe it could be used by New Jersey and other states, too.

Hope everything is well with you and yours.
