When we look back at the Fall of the Republic, surely there will be a special place in our Hell for "journalists" - more specifically, the people who own the conglomerates that own the newspapers and television networks and cable outlets - for failing in their fundamental duty to educate and inform We the People as intended under the first amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

That said...the ugly reality is that something slightly less than half of "We the People" are some combination of moron, bigot, fascist goon, and asshole. This indigestible mass of deplorables is what has made the U.S. impossible to govern wisely, not the press and not the "government". There's no escaping them, and they'll happily burn the sonofabitch down rather than let anyone who doesn't share their bigoted idiot ideas run the joint.
