From the Department of Ideas in Search of a Post:
Should a stupid thing you did when you were seventeen cost you a job when you’re fifty-three?
Many people reflexively answer that one with, “No. Doing at least one stupid thing is part of your daily routine when you’re seventeen.”
That’s why Kavanaugh’s excuse-makers want that to be the question.
But that question fudges the real question.
What if the job is Supreme Court Justice and the stupid thing you did was commit a serious, violent crime?
To be even more specific, should attempting to rape a classmate when you were in high school cost you a seat on the United States Supreme Court?
You bet it should…
I did a lot of stupid shit when I was that age, some of it even illegal stupid shit. I leave to others whether I deserve a pass for the stupid shit I did then, but I didn't do THAT, and nobody who did deserves high and honorable office unless he has made serious amends -- and maybe not even then.

One thing more:
Did he lie about that little youthful indiscretion? Along with a bunch of other little white lies he seems to keep telling to make himself look more virtuous than he is?
It's always the coverup, am I right? He could have said, oh there was the terrible misunderstanding at that party, I'm still very sorry about it. I was young and I've grown tremendously - even I might have bought it a little bit. But he didn't, he said unconditionally no, not me, not that girl.
That's why he looks like such an entitled little chicken shit preppie.
