From the Department of Ideas in Search of a Post:
Most Republicans aren’t rich. The GOP is the party of the rich. The rich own it after all. But still most Republicans aren’t rich, for the same reason most Democrats aren’t rich. There just aren’t that many rich people to go around. The relatively few there are---they’re not called the 1% because it’s catchy---hold all the money and they don’t want to share. Republicans---the not rich ones---don’t vote against their interests when they vote with the rich. They vote against advancing their own interests. But that’s collateral damage. What they’re voting against is anyone else advancing their interests at their---these not rich Republicans’---expense. The Republicans’ motto is: I may not be getting ahead, but I’ll be damned if anyone else gets ahead without me.
"We could make your life better. But we won't.
Instead, we'll make someone else's life worse, and let you watch.
Would that be ok instead?"
"Sure, sign me up."
