Thank you!
Important update: Closer and Closer! Ken's tuition shortfall has been whittled down to $700 $500!. $350! $0! Thank you those of you who've donated to his tuition fund so far. Now...
For those of you who haven't heard, Mrs M lost her job just before Christmas. As you can imagine, this was a big blow to her pride and to her spirit. It was also a big blow to our finances. Thanks to the generosity of friends and readers, our immediate bills are paid and we're going to eat for the next week. Our real concern right now is Ken. We were counting on Mrs M's Christmas bonus to pay his tuition for the spring. So I'm afraid I have to turn to you for more help.
Ken has offered to take the semester off, but I really don't want him to do that. School is about all he has. If you know his situation, you'll understand why. He needs the structure and he needs the sense of belonging and he needs the sense of achievement. He needs to feel he's continuing to make progress on being able to live an independent life. And he's been having fun at the college and has been doing well socially and academically---he's been making friends in his clubs and he got excellent grades in the fall. A B+ in one history class and an A in the other. He goes part-time so his tuition isn't that expensive, but it's more than we have on hand. We're now about $1200 $700 $500 $350 $0! shy. If you can help him out in any way, he'd be extremely grateful. So would we.

Thanks again to all the folks who've expressed their concern and offered their support. We love you all!
