And yet, despite how awful Trump was, yes they voted for him regardless. And yes, many on the Left also claimed that Trump was better than Hillary because Hillary was somehow more corrupt or more hawkish or....damnit, I'm just throwing up my hands in frustration here.

Excellent post, Lance! My husband and I are sad about what has happened to the United States. The saddest thing, I think, is that Trump's election means that the era of American international leadership has ended -- nobody will ever trust America again.
We definitely won't be visiting in the States for the duration and neither will most of our families. My daughter has already moved an academic conference she is organizing next year from Virginia to Ontario. All in all, its just too bad.
