I think the problem Lucas - and Abrams - have with genuine adults is the darn complexity that sexual attraction, sexual lust, just plain ol' sex, period brings to people. You can't - not if you're a person with a soul deeper than a postage stamp - be in sexual love, or even sexual lust, with someone and pass it off with a quip.

Lucas people aren't really people, they're paper dolls he acts out his stories with. Abrams seems to have a similar problem. They both can't seem to imagine having an adventure with someone who is important not because they're your buddy or your pal but because you care about them intimately, because you know the secrets of their body and have touched them in both the physical and emotional sense.

It's a nine-year-old attitude ("How can SHE come on the adventure? She's a guuuurrrrl!") but both men strike me up to a point as intellectually sophisticated nine-year-olds.

Can't wait to hear your thoughts Lance on Kylo Ren...especially his Mind Battle with Rey and That Scene with Han. (Sob.)

Am pretty excited that Rian Johnson is doing the next movie myself. I think Abrams was actually the right choice for Force Awakens and to bring the saga back, but they really need a fresh story going forward and Rian I'm sure will give them one. And as you note, he's NOT afraid of sensually charged female characters and Star Wars can use a little sex.
