The frustrating/irritating/utterly maddening part about this is that this is the "conservative" party we have (in the sense that "You have to go with the (insert name of object here) you have, not the (name of same object) you want.") and that's a huge problem.

I'm not remotely conservative but I accept that there are a lot of people who are, and in our political system those people need a representative to keep them within the system.

We need that representative to be...well, sane. To have political goals other than Daffy Duck's ("Mine! Mine! Mine!), Randian cartoon economics, and neoConfederate social fantasies. Because those "goals" are not remotely connected to "promoting the general welfare" in any sense of the word, and if US politics become viciously and obviously sectarian then the system doesn't work (see: "the 1850's").

And...well, the system obviously isn't working. The GOP has become that vicious sectarian snakepit of weapons-grade stupidity and short-sightedness. And there appears to be no solution in sight - the Public is being perfectly asinine in its acceptance of that condition outside the blatantly deranged Teatards who are driving this short bus off the cliff...

Last time it took four years and millions of dead and maimed to drive these idiots into the wilderness for a couple of generations...until it took a Great Depression to repeat the effect. What flaming disaster will it take THIS time..?

Though Elmendorf's CBO has been ridiculously overestimating the chance that Social Security is DOOMED!
