I live near Van Cortlandt Park and I haven't seen any deer yet, but there are lots and lots of geese on the fields. It would be seriously easy for anyone to sneak up with a sack and bag themselves a Christmas goose... I think I might have seen a deer once or twice driving along Westchester. I've definitely encountered lots of deer at my brother's house in suburban NJ. Pests they may be, but it's not their fault that humans are encroaching on their habitat.

I feel your pain. Even in daylight hours here in northern Wisconsin, you need to use extreme caution when driving. I've had 8-point bucks jump out in front of me at 11:00 am! Traveling after dusk is literally a crap shoot.

Elayne and I must be neighbors. I fully expect to see a deer in my Bronx yard one of these days. I wonder how the dog will react.

Solution: wolves.
