Oh, how I miss fall in upstate. As kids, my sister and I were given a trip every year to a place in Vermont called the Enchanted Dollhouse. Peak season almost always coincided with my sister's birthday in early October. Not so surprisingly, my bday in late January was far less conducive to much travel from Amsterdam, as it was always in the middle of crazy snowfall or the so-called January thaw.

Most fall days, I even miss the leisurely drivers on route 2 in Williamstown, MA. Then, we complained about the slowness of the leaf peepers, not quite running us over, but making us late for class (I was already running late, mind you). Now, I just feel the lack of the autumn colors. SW Ohio can never quite achieve trees with the same vibrancy. And don't get me started on the taste of apples.
