Lance, I think it's important to recognize that the slimy politicians who pander to the religious right represent only a tiny sliver of (misguided) Christians. To suggest Ralph Reed (or whoever you have in mind) speaks for evangelicals is akin to saying everyone in Miami is just like Lebron James. If you really want to keep rehearsing, I'd be thrilled to tell you how a real-life evangelical thinks/feels/believes. But be warned, I may not be quite as evil as you imagine, which could spoil all the fun for you!

S McCoy, I don't think you're quite evil at all. But here, please, read this before we talk.

Jindal says rebellion brewing against Washington

Bobby Jindal is the governor of a state, not an member of a school board somewhere. He wants to be President or at least somebody's Vice-President and he thinks talking like this will get him the job. So, who is he talking to?

Like I said before, I don't care how nice people are at the church picnic. I care what they do with their political power when they have it.

By the way, I lived and taught in Iowa and Indiana for eight years. I lost track of how many times I was asked "Are you saved?" within the first two. And I learned fairly quickly that "I"m Catholic" was the same as saying "No."

Lance, I'm sure you know he's talking to political activists, who are always the passionate extremists of whatever drum they're beating. They in no way reflect the millions and millions of Christians, whose political and religious doctines span a huge spectrum. I wish you would read Tim Keller's book Prodigal God. It brilliantly addresses the problem of the joyless, moralistic leaders who let rule following insidiously replace God following. Unfortunately these loudmouths often end up hogging the spotlight, while the vast majority of Christians are too busy trying to do what God asks us to in our communities to pay much attention to politics. I would hope that your disdain for these false prophets would not harden your heart against following the God of the Bible. Thanks for your time.
