Thank you, reading essay has been good for my soul.

My students are focused and ambitious, my colleagues laugh to scorn the suggestion that the humanities have anything to teach us tough guy scientists. The work a day world conspires to smother in its crib any conviction that cultivation of the mind is a higher good that is worthy in its own right.

That's why I come here, to share a bit of warmth and enlightenment with the smart guys. 'Cause it's a damned cold world out there.
