A devout Catholic who ignores the Church's teachings on universal healthcare, the minimum wage, the death penalty, welfare, preventative war, unions, immigration, and a bunch of other stuff.

It really is amazing that the guy gets a pass on all that stuff while a pro-choice Catholic Democrat is immediately excommunicated by the media.

I definitely follow your train of thought here, Lance, and I admire your ability to articulate your ideas, because I find it hard to describe what I think of Santorum. On one hand, I find him truly awful, even Stephen King-character awful; and I'm astonished that anyone would vote for him in this century. He must be appealing, as you describe, to the darkest, angriest, lowest common denominators in the republican party. In that way, I hope he reveals them for what they are. Then again, I'm astonished at a lot of people being able to be on TV or are paid to write for websites, or who have the public ear like Rush, Ann Coulter, Bill O'Reilly, Mark Levin, Erick Erickson, etc. etc. If I wasn't able to find humor in it, I'd probably heave myself off a bridge.
