So what did you think of the film, and Lawrence? I thought McAvoy and Fassbender were the best things about the film. (Byrne was good, too, although my accent-loving ears feel it's a shame they made her Scottish character American...) While I think Jennifer Lawrence is a promising young actress, and I'm sympathetic to her makeup ordeal, I wanted to like her performance more than I did. I thought she was miscast (and perhaps misdirected) as the young Mystique - just too timid, with only tiny spurts of precociousness. I found it hard to see the seeds of the woman she would become in Lawrence's performance. Overall, I found the film an above-average comic book flick.
