Things Republicans feel obliged to hate just because Democrats like them:
Trains, teachers, cops, firefighters, clean air, clean water, trains again…
Jobs.
Jobs that could be shipped overseas but are currently held by Americans who expect to be paid a living wage.
Jobs that come with a government paycheck.
Jobs that are in any way connected with the words green or clean as in clean energy:
The Taylor Biomass Project would have to say goodbye to a loan guarantee that brought the project from dream to reality if the Republican spending bill advancing in the House of Representatives Wednesday becomes law.
House Republicans are proposing a continuing resolution for the 2010 budget that includes $100 billion in cuts to government programs, including $25 billion in Department of Energy loan guarantees, according to Rep. Maurice Hinchey, D-Hurley. The bill increases funding for the Pentagon and military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Senate Democrats said they won't take up the measure, while President Barack Obama threatened to veto the measure. However, the two parties must hash out some budget compromise before March 4, when the current continuing budget resolution expires, or risk a government shutdown.
Montgomery businessman Jim Taylor said a rescission of the loan guarantee would halt a project that promises to create more than 300 construction jobs and 80 permanent positions.
