Because it’s the real thing and not an incredible simulation, and because it’s Phil’s birthday, and because he likes The Iron Giant.
It’s also Oliver Willis’ birthday, but you knew that because you read Oliver’s blog every day or you should and if you don’t, what’s wrong with you? Nevermind, he’s a Redskins’ fan, nobody’s perfect and besides rooting for the Skins is it’s own punishment this season.
And Eric Boehlert is celebrating his birthday today, too, which makes it a good day to buy his books, Bloggers on the Bus: How the Internet Changed Politics and the Press and Lapdogs: How the Press Rolled Over for Bush

I like Oliver's site as well, but, yes, his unflinching support for the Racial Slurs leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. And unfortunately, at the moment, it appears his WWW address-redirect service isn't working..
