Saturday the fifteen year old's karate school held a shiai, a day of demonstrations of skills and lessons. There was testing in the morning. Young man Mannion passed his test and was promoted to an orange belt. He's only been at the dojo for a year. There are some students who were born there apparently and are growing up on the mats. Here's a shot from the shiai. The fifteen year old is one of the tall guys in back, to the left of the left-hand set of doors. He's still wearing his yellow belt. Note that the little girl leading this exercise is already a blue belt.
a shiai is a wonderful thing.
congratulations to young mannion. keep at it young man. you learn so much more in the dojo than a martial art.

Passing along my congratulations as well *bows*
I got as far as a green belt in jujitsu - not quite sure why I stopped at that point.
