British Prime Minister Gordon Brown is opening the closing session. I've filled half a notebook with what he's been saying, which I'll sort through later. But he's told some funny stories and I want to pass one along quick.
This one.
He was at Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday celebration and was seated next to Mandela during a concert that featured Amy Winehouse. "And I had the privilege of explaining to him just who Amy Winehouse was."
Winehouse herself wanted people at the celebration to know that Mandela and her husband had a lot in common. "They both spent a large part of their lives in prison."
Later, when the crowd was singing "Free Nelson Mandela," Winehouse was overheard substituting her own lyrics. "Free Blakey, my fella."
Amy goddam rocks.

OT:
Lance, I thought you might like to read my thoughts on Shea.
Now, to Winehouse...
The idiot doesn't, and will never, get it: IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU, DICKHEAD!
My God, to compare a loser drug-addled ne'er-do-well to Nelson Mandela, who spent decades in jail for his beliefs?????

Without hearing the tone of voice I can't be sure, but that sounds like a joke to me. And not even a bad one.

That was obviously a joke.
