It's not just that Justice Stevens is 88 years old that's worrisome. Ruth Bader Ginsburg is 75. Stephen Breyer is 70. And that punk kid Souter is 69. I know Supreme Court Justices are notoriously long-lived, but still...
Meanwhile, Clarence Thomas will probably be around for another 20 years, Roberts and Alito for 30, at least. And I wouldn't be surprised if Antonin Scalia has arranged to have his mummified corpse hauled into court and propped up on the bench by his clerks for the next couple centuries or so.
Anthony Kennedy is the only one of the conservatives I wouldn't be surprised to see get tired and call it quits in the next five or ten years.
This means that the odds are that next President will be replacing more of the liberal Supreme Court Justices than he will conservative ones.
Word to all the hand wringers who cannot FATHOM voting for Obama because he beat "their girl." Voting McCain in Nov to send some sort of spiteful message does not serve anyone... except for McCain and the people who think things are going simply so swimmingly they want another heaping helping of failed Bush policies. For those who still fret that they "don't know what Obama stands for," now might be the time to visit his website. Then visit McCain's.

There are many Hillary supporters who cannot see voting for Obama should he capture the nomination and, believe me, we are not wingers.
Obama surrounds himself with Wall Street bigshots and pseudo Democrats like Sam Nunn. He seems determined to privatize Social Security and punt on UHC. Fegh.
As far as the Supreme Court goes, BO supporters tell me and other older women that we are dried up old hags and then have the gall to say that we have to vote for their idol to protect Roe v.Wade! Hilarious.
Me? I'll take my marching orders from Donna Brazille and the other losers determined to throw Clinton off a cliff. "Message to the base-stay home!"

Well, Lance, at least give me a chance to vote for Hillary Clinton, which I'll do next Tuesday (not tomorrow), before I have to decide not to be petty. Okay? I really was hoping to get a chance to cast a meaningful vote for once.

This is one the top reasons that we need to make sure that John McCain doesn't move into the White House.

Sweet Sue, can I just ask where you heard or saw or read that Obama called us "dried up old hags?" Because I had not heard this before, and as a "dried up old hag" myself, I would not be very happy at all if this is indeed documented.

Scout, SweetSue said "BO supporters"
I want to point out that more than the Supreme Court is at stake: the federal beauracracy has been devestated by Republican mismanagement. We must have a Democrat to start repairing the damage at, for example, Dept. of Justice and FEMA.
And of course, torture and habeas corpus.
So many reasons not to stay home in November.
