I think it was the (F-ing Bucky Dent!) playoff game in 1978 when Yaz made the last out, popping up to short or third. The look of anguish on his face (as seen on TV) was stark.

Foul popout behind 3rd base, iirc; a SS play, per Charles Schulz.

Should we liveblog Gossip Girl for you? ("Something silly happens. Something even sillier happens. Whit Stillman would have made that last a few weeks. This was boring in The Ice Storm; where's Christina Ricci in a Nixon mask? -- Oh, wait, she's at The Game, since she'll be guest-starring on Cavemen next week. -- Where was I? Oh, yeah. This show. When is Kipper on?")

lance -- regarding yaz's last year -- instead of 1993, don't you mean 1983?

i know yaz played in the 1967 series. if he had played until 1993, i bet he wouldn've been older than satchel paige.

As a Giant's fan, all I can do is lament five freakin' outs away in 2002. My AL team is the Sox, though.
