I'm working on a review of Christopher Guest's For Your Consideration. Should be up sometime this evening. Reviews of Babel and Little Miss Sunshine will go up tomorrow and Saturday. Why all the film stuff? Because Tom Watson and Blue Girl are holding a gun to my head. They want me to review all the Best Picture nominees. (Yes, I know For Your Consideration wasn't nominated. That's part of the point. You'll see.) They want the reviews all done by Saturday at noon because....
It's Oscar Weekend at newcritics!
Beginning at noon on Saturday and continuing all through the day and night and next day, Sunday, various members of the newcritics staff of hipsters, aesthetes, effetes, artistes, critics, and pompous know-it-alls (That's me, folks.) will be putting up post after post devoted to the Movies in general, Oscar winners in particular, with lots of stuff about this year's nominees in many categories---Claire Helene's reviewing all the films up for Best Film Short---all of it leading into the big show, Blue Girl's live-blogging of the Academy Awards.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be getting back to work gutting For Your Consideration.
Meantime, I have a feeling that because the Studio 60 live blogging forced it down the page, a lot of people may have missed my post on Bridge to Terabithia.
I kind of liked it myself. Here's the link: The Bridge to Terabithia is down.
Hee hee - love it!
Just call me Tom Sawyer....

I've been silent about your BtT post because I couldn't think of anything to say about it other than "Go! Read!"
We got the screener for Little Miss Sunshine; I hope you'll be more impressed with it than I was. (Then again, I loathed the attitude of American Beauty, and found this rather similar.)
For those wondering, though, the two nominees for Best Supporting are both as such because they are billed as Supporting.

I know newcritics hosts the hipsters, aesthetes, effetes, etc., and I hope no one plans to take a cheap shot at Ernest Borgnine. If so, I would ask them to deflect it toward Kim Basinger, a more deserving target, if less deserving Oscar winner. Just a request. Maybe putting Lassie in her (?) place wouldn't hurt, either.
