Shakespeare's Sister

There's even evidence that in private, or with audiences with whom he is comfortable and relaxed, he is still articulate and even eloquent in a demotic, idiomatic way.

When I first read that, I thought it said "in a demonic, idiotic way." Which actually sounds like something I'd say about Bush.

What a nicely written, well-reasoned, open-minded, well thought out post, with a really great point about parents' ghosts not haunting their children's lives.

But, I say Pshaw! to Bush reading sixty books so far this year!

And why do I feel that way? Do I have proof? No! I'm going with my, um, gut on this one.

I don't buy it for a second. And I didn't have to hear this little exchange between Bush and Brian Williams to feel the way I do either.

Williams: So, what was The Stranger about?

Bush: Heh, heh, heh. That was a couple 'o books ago. Since then, I've read three Shakespeare's.

SS: I thought it said demonic too!

:)

Very nice post. Lots of food for thought and light on the links. :-)

Your comment that maybe Bush is a speed reader brings to mind the Woody Allen quip that after he took a speed reading course, he was able to read "War and Peace" in 20 minutes. It's about Russia.
