Revised.
I didn't mean to suggest in yesterday's post that because human beings are born gabby, with a natural gift for acquiring words and an almost unstoppable urge to use them, that they are all born poets, essayists, and great public speakers.
Chattiness is not eloquence and the urge to express one's feelings doesn't just happen to produce great poetry as a matter of course. Every anecdote isn't a story. Certain skills still need to be taught, and children have to learn how to write well.
Great writing, and great public speaking, are the result of a talent for knowing when to shut up.
I know. I'm the last one to be making the case that brevity is the soul of wit.
I'll shut up now.
Ouch! I'd say more, but don't want to be accused of being... blabby...

I'm not sure this'll do it.
Drop and give me twenty.

blue girl- You're sounding rather terse, concise, brusque if you will. If I didn't know better I'd say you were a man!
