How dare you insinuate I was ever a teenage boy!: Brett Kavanaugh displaying his vanity, sense of entitlement, and guilty conscience at today’s hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Photo by Win McNamee courtesy of USA Today.

To put it another way, we’re all as good or bad, smart or stupid as the friends we hang out with. This is even more the case when we’re young. Brett Kavanaugh spent his high school and college days in the company of all too typical preppie and frat boy jerks. But now he expects people to believe he was always the paragon of virtue he flatters himself he is today and it infuriates him that many people don’t. His attitude is “How dare you imply I was anything other than the saint you see before you now!” That bespeaks incredible vanity, an astounding sense of entitlement, and quite likely a very guilty conscience.
