This pickup belongs to an Army veteran. Says so. In two places. That decal in the right hand corner of the rear window and another, smaller one with the Army insignia in the front windshield. Obviously it also belongs to a proud American, a Christian, and an Arkansas Razorbacks fan . I’m trying to decide if the two American flag decals outweigh that goddamn Confederate one on the bumper. So far, he’s not getting the benefit of my doubt. The Blue Lives Matter flag isn't scoring him any points.
I’m at Barnes & Noble, having a cup of coffee and buying Mrs M her sugar cookie, which she now seems to expect every day, and the truck was ahead of me when I stopped at a light on the way here. He roared off as soon as the light changed and I couldn’t read all the stickers and decals. But, Jesus be praised, he was headed for the Lowes which is in the same big box store complex as B&N, so I sneaked in after him and took the picture after he’d gone inside, a white haired guy in a ball cap I don’t think had any lettering, let alone MAGA. In case you can’t make out the stickers, I’ll read them to you.
Starting from the left, in the rear window, just under the decal of the two silhouetted children praying next to a cross, tattered and torn, it says “United We Stand.” Sort of ironic, considering that goddamn Confederate flag, but never mind. Moving down to the gate: “Proud To Be An American”, then “JESUS SAVES” and below that, continuing the lesson, “Real Men Love Jesus”. Things get secular down on the bumper. “Mesquite Championship Rodeo.” Over and up from that, right in the center of the gate, we’re back in church with a quote from the gospels, John 14:6:
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Back up to the right is the U.S. Army Veteran decal, then down on the gate again---and this one’s washed out so it’s hard to read---a message from a veteran to our troops currently serving: “To Our Military Heroes We’re Proud of You”. And, finally, dropping down, “IF IT AIN’T KING JAMES IT AIN’T BIBLE’.
I have to say, I’m with him on that sentiment.
PS The quote from John is the King James version. I checked.
