There is more than one Batman -- you can't really compare Adam West with Christian Bale, since they're playing completely different characters -- but Superman has been mostly the one guy, so I can accept your judgement on that one.

Even though those of us of a certain generation still remember a different guy with "Reeve" in his name doing the character justice…

Dave

You couldn't be more wrong on these rankings.

Hamilton is the ne plus ultra of Perry Whites. None of the others - maybe Dzundza - seems capable of running a great metropolitan newspaper with a staff of three.

Brown is a far better Luthor than any of the others - and where is poor Lyle Talbot?

Caine is a mopey Alfred and pales in comparison to Irons's just-do-it moxie.

Where is Phyllis Coates on that list of Loises? I used to disparage her until I rewatched the whole series recently, and as much as I love Neill, she pales in comparison to Coates, who, with Alexander, completely embodies the snoopy girl reporter.

West's Batman should not only not be number one - that spot belongs forever to Conroy - but shouldn't even be on the list. That show began the "biff bam pow" cliches that have haunted the genre for half a century. I won't rest until every copy of every episode has been turned into guitar picks.

While Reeve is, without a doubt, number one, it's close between him and Reeves, who is a far more interesting Clark.

Dave, I think you're underestimating me. I can always be more wrong on any subject.

I like this:

"Hamilton is the ne plus ultra of Perry Whites. None of the others - maybe Dzundza - seems capable of running a great metropolitan newspaper with a staff of three."

I thought about ranking Hamilton at number 1, but Cooper just has too many good lines that he delivers brilliantly.

"That's why they call them terrorists, Kent."

As for Talbot, I've never seen Atom Man vs. Superman but I'm sure he's much better than Jesse Eisenberg.
