"Unlike Thor’s Jane Foster and Iron Man’s Pepper Potts, Agent Carter---and Agent is practically her real first name in the movie. Peggy’s an afterthought.---was invented for the movie...."

Er, not at all. The film version is a combination of the original Marvel Peggy Carter, and her niece, Sharon Carter, and the main change is making her British. She first started appearing in CAPTAIN AMERICA in 1968, and was used in at least 68 appearances in that title, 15 in THE AVENGERS, and has been referred to in at least 94 Marvel issues.

"Except for Bucky Barnes, who is nothing like the Bucky of the comic books...."

No, no, no. He's the Bucky of the last decade. Who is now, incidentally, Captain America, while Steve Rogers, who was dead for a while (he got better), is "Captain Rogers" and in charge of America's security, after S.H.I.E.L.D, and replacement H.A.M.M.E.R was shut down (during "Dark Siege" and all the other "Dark" Marvels of the past couple of years, when Norman Osborn (yes, he ceased being dead many years ago, as well) was in charge, replacing Tony Stark.

I know you haven't kept up on recent decades of Marvel, but if you're going to say these things.... :-)

Great post/reviews, despite my quibbles over Marvel facts.

"Like Loki, the Warriors Three are under-utilized here...."

If you look on YouTube, you'll see more of them in the deleted scenes (I'm not sure if those come from the Blu-Ray release, or where, but probably from Blu-Ray).

You also don't mention Lady Sif (oh, okay, you did later), who has spent a heck of a lot more time being Thor's love interest in the comics (at times) than Jane Foster, who disappeared decades ago, but in the film was more or less made to be part of The Warriors Four, since she was handwaved over in favor of Portman's Jane Foster, to give Thor a meaningful human connection, and pander to the folks like you who stopped reading Marvel decades ago. :-)

"Editor’s note: I’m somewhat wrong about this. Peggy Carter’s not an iconic character like Pepper and Jane but she’s in the comic book’s continuity."

Sorry; I was so taken aback by your prior characterization that I leapt to comment before finishing your post. Bad me.
