Our old pal Nance on Texas Department of Corrections’ recent decision not to offer condemned prisoners their choice for a last meal anymore:
We give a condemned man a choice of last meal…because we’re better than the condemned. On the last day of his life, we’re extending the little niceties of civilization as a way of showing the man about to die what he rejected. We let him meet with a clerical representative of his choice to show we live by the values we kept and he rejected.
Not any more. Enjoy your macaroni and cheese.
I’m sorry to have to note that this change in policy was instigated by a Democrat.

Yes, but most Texas Democrats are Texans first.

I remember way back during my working days that one of my very conservative workmates telling me, in a mildly incredulous tone, that he thought lethal injection was a bad idea because it "didn't make the criminal suffer enough" when we debated the death penalty.
Here's a short update on the Texas "last meal" decision:
This is another example where John Stewart's comment makes perfect sense;
Government is too big and powerful and costly and socialist and jackbooted, etc... But we always trust the government to kill the right people.
