The more that comes out about this collection of pathetic losers, the unlikelier it seems these guys could have pulled off their plot to shoot down Air National Guard transports and bomb two synagogues without "help" of the kind they thought they were getting from the FBI's informant and an entrapment defense begins to seem plausible.
But we were lucky it was the informant they fell in with. All they needed was one more recruit, a true-believer who was half-way intelligent and not crazy---their own Timothy McVeigh.
And even if they couldn't have laid their hands on real Stingers to shoot down planes with, bombing a synagogue would have been well within their skill set.
Still:
NEWBURGH -- The four accused terror plotters’ lives are rife with so many shortcomings - drug-and-alcohol addictions, abbreviated formal educations and mental illness - it’s a wonder they could organize a meeting among themselves.
When defendant Laguerre Payen appeared in court Thursday, he seemed confused by the proceedings and repeatedly asked his lawyer what was happening.
“Mr. Payen suffers from, let me put it this way, he’s intellectually challenged,” his lawyer, Marilyn Reader, told the court.
Payen, who is from Haiti, replied “sort of” when he was asked if he understood his rights.
The Times Herald-Record reports that Payen is bi-polar and taking medication for depression and schizophrenia. Read the whole story.
A more in-depth follow up is here.

Y'know, you'd think the orange tip on the business end of the warheads would have clued them in...
