Route 66 ran from Chicago to LA. More than two thousand miles all the way. It ran from St Louis down through Missouri, Oklahoma City, Amarillo, Gallup, NM, Flagstaff, Winona, Kingman, Barstow and San Bernardino. It went nowhere near Nevada nor Florida.

A Burma-Shave sign is one of the first things I remember reading on my own in the 40's. It was on the road between Monroe and Alexandria, LA. It said:
Don't lose your head
To save a minute
You need your head
Your brains are in it
High comedy to a four-or five-year-old. I graduated from that to "Prince Valiant".
