November
No warmth, no cheerfulness, no healthful ease,
No comfortable feel in any member--
No shade, no shine, no butterflies, no bees,
No fruits, no flowers, no leaves, no birds,
November!---from "November" by Thomas Hood

Ah, when I think of November, I remember my daughter's favorite Sendak:
IN NOVEMBER'S GUSTY GALE,
I WILL FLOP MY FLIPPY TAIL
AND SPOUT HOT SOUP,
I'LL BE A WHALE.
